I’m well aware that I was completely late to the highlighter hype party. In all honestly, I was pretty scared of the highlighter as I thought it would make me look”dewy” and “glowy” which I was afraid of as I didn’t think it would be a good look for me… well, I was wrong.
After searching around for different highlighters, I stumbled upon the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in the shade Charming Pink. This seemed like the perfect introduction to highlighters as it was a nude, pink shade and wouldn’t look too striking on. This illuminator has the perfect amount of sparkle to it where it doesn’t overwhelm the whole make-up look. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing everyone’s strong highlight, but at first I was terrified so a natural glow was just what I wanted. I think the spoken about shade in this Laura Geller collection of baked illuminators is “Gilded Honey” which is a lot more strong and golden. A golden highlight looks so gorgeous but is definitely more on the strong side than a simple, neutral pink. As I’ve said, the Charming Pink shade of the illuminator gives a neutral glow on my pale skin and I absolutely love it! I’ve even ventured into building it up on my cheeks for a stronger highlight look… that’s the great thing about this highlight is you can either wear it very thin and natural or you can go to town and really make your face sparkle!
As for the packaging, I kinda love the gelato swirl design of the product and the case makes it easy to fit in my make-up bag and in a travel bag to take with me. There’s also plenty of product to last me as I’ve been using it for the past few months, every day, and have barely made a dent on the swirl. Granted, I don’t go mad on the highlight but it’s still great value for money – on the QVC website, it’s £26 for the highlighter and a brush!
I’d definitely recommend the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in the shade Charming Pink to anyone who is slightly new to the whole highlighting concept. As I’ve said, this product introduced me to the possibilities of a highlight and doesn’t terrify me as much as some of the more golden shades. It’s the perfect product for a natural glow on very fair skin… I love it!
