Confession: I have been coveting the Nyx Cosmetics liquid lipsticks and trying out near enough every single range for you guys on my blog; not going to lie, it has mostly been because I am an absolute lipstick hoarder but isn’t it nice to see how they all stack up against each other?! Previously, I reviewed the Matte Lip Creams and the Lip Lingeries but it is not the turn of the Liquid Suede beauties which I think have come out on top; you know what they say, leave the best to last! These liquid lipsticks are probably some of the best that I have tried: they have a great formula, they have great staying power and the colours are stunning and look fabulous on the lip.
Nyx Liquid Suede in Sandstorm
This colour was one of the ones that I umm’ed and ahh’ed about as I was worried that I was becoming a bit of a nude lipstick fanatic – you know when you seek out the perfect nude in every lipstick range and end up with pretty much the same shade of nude in every brand? Yep, that’s me. However, I am confident enough to say that I believe Sandstorm is unlike any shade in my collection. It is a brown based nude and looks so stunning on that I think it may just be my new favourite nude. If I had to compare it? I would probably say Velvet Teddy is the closest but this is much more matte and brown toned than I feel Velvet Teddy is. When I was researching the shade, it also had comparison shots next to infamous Kylie Lip Kit shade Dolce K but obviously I have not tested them myself so not too sure how close it actually is. From the photos, it seemed like a much more lighter shade of brown nude than Dolce K. Nevertheless, it is a gorgeous nude and a stand out in my lipstick collection.
Nyx Liquid suede in Soft Spoken
This colour was one which I gravitated towards immediately as the perfect mauve nude and I have to admit, it is probably a similar shade to a lot of others in my lipstick collection. I would probably put it closest to Mac Mehr which is a personal favourite of mine anyway. Despite this shade being a popular choice for my collection, I am glad I have the shade in the liquid suede formula because, as I mentioned previously, this formula of liquid lipsticks is one of the best I have come across both in terms of staying power and comfort. Obviously, as a matte lipstick, it is going to be drying but it does not feel as tacky and drying as the Gerard Cosmetics or the Liquid Suede ones. Soft Spoken has definitely been a shade I have been reaching for on a daily basis for work.
Nyx Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies
Who doesn’t love a red lipstick shade? On my pale complexion, I feel like there is no better lipstick shade than a gorgeous red and my goodness does Cherry Skies make me swoon. It is a gorgeous deep, but not too vampy, red which goes on like a dream and truly is the “perfect red”. Reading reviews, people had problems with this colour sticking to their lips but as you can see in the close up shot, I did not find this problem. In fact, compared to my other matte liquid lipsticks, it was a lot more forgiving and velvet in its appearance. It also seems to be reviewed as one to layer up but again this did not apply to me as I got great pigment with one application of the product; maybe it was a batch thing but my batch was pretty darn great. This shade is definitely going to be one I am reaching for over and over again when looking for a red lip this summer.
Nyx Liquid Suede in Vintage
This was a brave decision and probably was one of the shades that I did the most research into before adding it to my basket. In photo swatches online, it looked like a deep vampire purple shade which I was not sure would work on my pale skin tone. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see it is more like a deep brown red colour which I adore! It also fills a gap in my lipstick collection as I cannot think of any other lipstick that I own which is a similar shade – bonus. However, out of all of the shades, I would say that this one was the most difficult to apply formula wise. In the close up, you can see that it is quite patchy with one layer and seems to have gone on more pigmented in some places than the other. Despite this, it is a gorgeous shade which I have found myself reaching for over and over again. To me, I think I am drawn in by the individuality of the shade as I do not own anything like it so it is unique.
