Confession time – I have recently started up a slightly unhealthy obsession with purchasing mac lipsticks so I thought I would share the lipsticks I have at the moment and what I think of them. I think the four I have so far cover the bases of what I normally like to wear on my lips but I have my eye on a few other shades to add to my collection and would love to hear from you all what your favourite mac lipsticks are.
First up is the very first mac lipstick I bought for myself: Morange. I would say this isn’t a typical “first mac lipstick” as it is very bright and daring, but at the time I really wanted an orangey-red lipstick so I had to purchase it. I am going to be honest, I find it really difficult to wear sometimes as it really sticks out. I think it is more of a shade I would rock in the Spring/Summer so maybe I need to rekindle my love with it. (I am just going to quickly apologise for the shoddy application of the lipstick, I was in a rush to take the photos so did not apply lip liner *tut tut*).
The second lipstick I purchased was Mehr. I had been seeking a “your lips but better” shade and after a lot of research, I had my eye on either Brave, Faux or Mehr. The only thing left to do was to go into the mac store and swatch them; after doing this I chose Mehr. It is such a lovely everyday shade and really fits in to the current “Kylie Jenner” lip trend that is everywhere at the moment. I would really recommend this shade as I pretty much wear it everyday. The photos do not do it justice.
Red lipstick is my ultimate favourite shade to wear. It suits skin tone and hair down to a tee. So, naturally, my next mac lipstick had to be a red one. Again, I looked around to see what people thought of the reds by mac. I considered Ruby Woo but decided against it on the fact that I had heard it was a tad drying due to it being a retro matte. Russian Red was the one I settled on. It is such a lush shade of red and looks great on; the matte finish makes it even better. I would say that you do have to keep applying it throughout the day as it does wear off at the centre of the lips.
The final lipstick in my collection is Rebel. I love this shade. This one is definitely my favourite purchase as it is nothing like any of my other lipsticks that I own. It also has amazing lasting power as it stains my lips. So if the top layer rubs off, it just turns into a lighter shade of deep purple – I love it ! It is so Autumnal and vampy that I cannot stop wearing it with my all black ensembles. I highly recommend this shade as it looks fab on. I reckon this is one of those shades that would suit a lot of skin tones; I am fair and I love it. It really makes the lips pop.
What’s your favourite mac lipstick shade, and how many lipsticks do you own?
